Habitat
A common and widespread early successional tree. It grows in a wide range of habitats from the lowlands to around 1000 m. It occurs mostly in dryland dipterocarp forests but may also be seen on the edges of swampy forests. It appears to be quite tolerant of a range of soil conditions and can be found on richer shale-derived soils as well as on sandstone-derived soils. It is very high-light demanding and colonizes forests after selective logging, and regenerates abundantly following shifting agriculture.
