Terrestrial (Primary Rainforest, Secondary Rainforest, Freshwater Swamp Forest). Mainly lowland forests, undisturbed mixed dipterocarp and sub-montane forests up to 1200 m altitude. Usually on hillsides and ridges with sandy soils.
Distribution in Singapore
It occurs locally in Central Catchment Nature Reserve, Changi, Nee Soon Swamp Forest, along Old Upper Thomson Road, Pulau Tekong, and Pulau Ubin.

From Peninsular Malaysia, Singapore, Java, Borneo, through to New Guinea.
