Terrestrial (Undisturbed/slightly disturbed mixed dipterocarp primary Forests in the lowlands, undergrowth of Primary Forests, Secondary Rainforests, Sub-montane, Monsoon Forest, Coastal Forest, Back Mangrove, Freshwater Swamp Forest, Grassland / Savannah/ Scrubland). Up to 1700 m altitude. Also common around villages (usually coppiced). Usually on alluvial sites and near or along rivers and streams. Also found on limestone.
